I believe that the optimal attention span of a child is about 1.5-2 hours. Rewards like candies or stationaries would attract the children to try and solve the problems and questions presented to them. Breaks in between the lesson would be sufficient for both the tutor and child.
I also believe that, to boost the confidence of the child to strive for the best in their studies, constant encouragement and praising will do the job.
