"Responsibility and Dedication "
As an A Star scholar, i joined National JC for my Integrated Programme education so i am very experienced in dealing with IP students. During my JC time, i have been chosen to be peer-tutor my batch mates and my juniors who were having difficulty in their study. I was chosen because of my excellent exam result but also because i am a person of commitment, responsibility, patience and promise to deliver the best result. In my year 2, i was asked by my teacher to tutor a year 3 student in chemistry so that she can pass her Promo exam. By the time Promo was over, she had attained a B which is better than the passing grade of an E. In year 3 and 4, i continued to tutor 4 more students in year 2 in subjects like Maths and Chemistry. All of them had gotten a jump in their grades. Personally i think each subject requires a different style of study and thus, the tutor needs to inspire their style of study to each student, see if it fits and make necessary adjustment. After all, the students can study on their own less and less depending on the tutor. However, this process requires much time and in cases of student chiong-ing for exam, this method does not work. With little time, tutors and students can only try to get the best out of it. This is where a tutor's experience comes in handy to judge what to study first, how much of each topic to study.
My student, Yvonne Chan, gets her first A in maths paper after our 3-month lessons. Overall improvement in grades is from E to C.
My student, Sharifah, improves her grades in chemistry to C from U during her JC1
