"Striving for creativity and confidence"

I choose to teach because I enjoy adding value to my students' lives. A good grasp of English not only forms the foundation of a child's communication and understanding of other subjects; I believe that critical thinking skills can be honed through the organic and comprehensive thinking required in composition writing. I am an empathetic and encouraging teacher who is sensitive to each child's unique strengths and learning style. It is with genuine joy that I celebrate their efforts, not only their achievements. That said, I do have high expectations for their efforts and express this clearly to them. In general, my teaching methods are catered to each child. During my experience as a private tutor, I have exposed higher-ability students to self-sourced texts and self-made questions to stretch them for comprehension. For students who need to work more on their basics, I will come up with repetitive similar questions for e.g. an aspect of grammar to boost their confidence. I have a passion for reading and writing and would like to share that with my students. And as a former school teacher, I am also attuned to my students' character development. In my experience teaching P3 and P4 English in MOE school, I managed to help my students improve their creativity, vocab and grammar in compositions tremendously by detailed marking and motivating them to do better.
