"Exceptional teaching, outstanding results"
I am an American currently studying for a PhD in mathematics at the NUS. During my undergraduate years in the USA, I took on part time tutoring work both in the school tutoring center as well as occasional private tutoring. When I went to earn a Master's degree, I was awarded a full scholarship with a teaching assistantship where I lectured for calculus courses under the supervision and training of a senior instructor. After finishing my Master's, I quickly found work as an adjunct instructor at a local technical college, where I taught at the 1000 level. After one year there, I decided to pursue a PhD, and I was accepted to the NUS with a full scholarship from A*STAR. I have now been giving tutorials for two years at the NUS.
From my first years tutoring as an undergraduate through my more recent experience as a full time college instructor, I have gotten very good reviews on my teaching. I've helped countless dozens of students prepare for exams and develop a good understanding and appreciation for mathematical concepts.
I graduated with a 3.9 grade point average (out of 4) for my master's degree and was given an award for academic excellence for being one of the top two students in my class. In recognition of my academic excellence, A*STAR awarded me a full scholarship to attend the NUS for my PhD where I passed my qualifying exams on my first attempt.
