"Understanding over Memorising"

I am a University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in History. I am also a Creative Writing minor and therefore, am confident in teaching English to students who would like to brush up their essay-writing or composition skills. With my History degree, I am certain that I will be able to teach secondary students the tricks behind nailing the perfect History essay. My Junior College Economics tutor had once told mentioned, 'In order to understand the Keynesian fiscal policy and how it affects the economy, we must first understand who Keynes was and what made him start this policy!' This teaching method of educating the student with the most fundamental cause and theory was what helped me in jumping from a bad fail grade to an A for my 'A' Levels. I hope to apply such methods into my teaching to ensure the remember what they learned. In terms of my prior experiences, I have mostly taught Mathematics to primary school students and therefore, believe that I am most well-versed in this subject.
