Mentorship
Hello, I just finished A levels and admittedly, I was an ordinary student.
An ordinary student who
Got A2 for O level E & A Math
A U for J1 Math (Promo Exam)
But somehow got
Top in class for J2 Math (Block Test)
3rd in class for J2 Math (Mid Year Common Test) Top in class for J2 Math (Prelims)
Selected as Peer Tutor by my math teacher, whose role is to mentor a group of classmates under my wing during math lesson
That’s briefly what happened in my Math journey these 2 years.
I also took LITERATURE IN ENGLISH, and I was an ordinary student who
Got A1 for O level Combined humans (Lit and SS)
But Never got above 20%tile in J1
But just somehow again I got
Top in cohort for J2 H1 Lit (Mid Year Common Test)
Top in cohort for J2 H1 Lit (Prelims)
Honestly, Idk how I did it and I believe things happened partly due to luck. Nevertheless, I’d like to offer mentorship to students who are struggling OR just feel the urge to thrash everyone. A side note, I only realised I love those subjects when I actually DO WELL in them. That’s why you hear people who do well say they love it, not the other way round. It’s just a vicious cycle. Since you’re in it, you’ve got to try to do well (:
I taught 2 JC students (one from NYJC, another from SRJC) with below average grades (E and S for promos respectively) last year for a year right after my A levels and both of them got As for H2 Math. (I have testimonies from my students themselves and their parents)
This year I managed to help (credits to her own contentious effort as well) another J2 student from MJC who got U for promos and previous examinations improve her grades. She attained a B for mid years and prelims this year.
Other notable achievements include:
Top in class for my Primary 5 student for Chinese Language
Top in class for my Secondary 1 student for Math
Top in class for my P6 student who was struggling badly for Math
Best in class for 3 consecutive terms (including prelims) for H2 Math in JC
Best in cohort for 2 consecutive terms (including prelims) and Top in cohort certification for A levels for H1 Literature in English
Honourable mention for Math Olympiad in primary school + refer to section 'self description'
