"Embracing & bringing out the potential in your kids"
A full-time tutor, specialised in Maths, Science and Combined Physics & Chemistry. I have taught different kind of students for the past five years, ranging from primary 1 - secondary 5.
I used to be from Mentoring CCA during my Polytechnic years, helping students from Whitesands Primary. I also have experience in relief tutoring, teaching in a children home as well as student care. Many students sought me for help a month before N & O levels because they trust in the delivery of my teaching.
I have the ability to explain concepts in a manner that my students will be able to understand. I always believe in building rapport with my students. A great rapport precedes willingness to excel. One needs to love a subject before he/she can score.
I will assess my students’ strengths and weaknesses, so I can plan my classes accordingly. I will first allow my students to set their goals and purpose before studying in order to guide them to a direction they can see. From there, I will tackle on chapters they struggle the most. I make sure that concepts are clearly explained with creative examples, and get them to practice their foundational chapters before I even get on to other chapters. The basics have to be strengthened. I always believe in going slow, and then seeing the results in long-term. Different students varies in their speed of understanding and conceptualizing. Hence, different students may take different duration for them to improve and produce desired great results. You may not expect immediate results, but the way I teach will definitely help them in a bigger picture. Once a child is confident is all chapters, I will give practice and past examination papers to assess room for improvements.
In the case for science, I will plan experiments for the child to do in order for them to understand. This is to Ensure the child is actively involved and having fun during the learning process.
For lower primary students, I will create board games or crafts to help them with their maths.
Jeff Kek (2016), from Guangyang Sec. He has been failing both maths & combined science every year. He was even absent for his prelims. I taught him the whole syllabus with two days before N levels, and he improved tremendously with a grade of 3 for maths and 4 for combined science (N levels).
Kimberly (2017), from Hai Sing Catholic. She scored U grade for her prelims. After tutoring her for a month, she improved and scored 4 for combined science (N levels)
Wayne Ng (2017), from Chung Cheng High. He did badly for his past papers and prelims. After tutoring him, he scored 3 for N(A) levels combined science.
Jeroy Goh (2015) from Catholic High. From averaging a B4 and struggling with physics concepts, he managed to improved to an A1 for his Sec 3 SA2, and eventually scoring A2 in his Olevels Physics after teaching him.
Ryanne Ong (2014-present) from CHIJ SJC primary. Tutored her for foundational maths. From failing all her papers throughout primary school years, she improved and score grade 2 for PSLE (70-84/100) which is above parents’ expectation.
Rachel Ong (2014-present) from CHIJ SJC secondary. Being a slow learner, with poor memory skills, she kept on failing every papers. She neither could write straight lines nor count with her fingers. After drilling and helping her, for the first time she passed all her papers and recently scored 60/100 for the recent SA2 math.
I scored straight As' in Maths from Primary School all the way till Secondary School.
I used to be a Top Student in my secondary school in 2007 & 2008.
I won 3rd in Singapore NUS Statistical Competition in 2009.
