"Every child can learn. But not everyone can teach. Finding the right teacher to inspire the child is key to the child\'s learning journey,"

_______________________________________
I am a Senior Educational Therapist who has had more than five years of experience in dealing with children with special needs, namely, Dyslexia, Mild Autism, Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD), Oppositional Defiance Behaviour (ODD) and the likes. My experience is not only limited to literacy and numeracy skills, but also encompasses behaviour management, teaching life skills, daily functional skills and raising the students self-awareness and self-esteem.
I believe that every child, regardless of his/her challenges, can learn and that as an educator, providing the appropriate teaching strategies to engage the child, based on his/her learning styles, will allow the child to experience success and grow to love learning and develop a positive attitude towards academic work. I advocate that no child fails deliberately, nor does he/she misbehave deliberately, but instead believes that there is likely to be an underlying learning difficulty that the child is facing and because he/she is unable to express that difficulty, acts up. In a nutshell, I believe in motivating and engaging the student in all learning activities and hope to keep them actively participating in the learning process. Adopting a holistic approach in teaching the child, I also actively involve all individuals (i.e. parents, teachers, care givers and etc) who are involved in the upbringing of the child.
Testimonial from Parent:
To Whom This May Concern:
Ms. Shoba has taught my son Jai Ramanathan for 3 years. During this period of time, she has not only improved my son's grade by 300%, she has also inspired the passion in him to learn.
A great teacher is not one that only teaches the academic, but one who instills good values and self-discipline. This is what Ms Shoba has done for Jai. He has learnt good manners, and developed a strong enthusiasm to not only do well in school but in his personal life.
Jai and I are very fortunate to have such a wonderful teacher. I wish she will remain in our lives for many years to come.
Sincerely,
Danielle
