"Practice produces good grades."
Interested in working with kids especially regarding Pri Sch or Preschool subjects such as Maths and English. I believe such subjects are possible to score well in if the students put in more practice in assessment books/past year papers. It's important to lay the foundation well for the subjects in Primary School to help them in future studies.
Past Tutoring Experience: Pri school students from P1-P6
I usually access the student(s)' strengths and weaknesses via a simple quiz on first lesson so I know which areas to focus more on. Will get assessment books and past year school papers for my students to practise.
Primary 1:
The kid just returned from overseas thus did not have any Pre-school education based on Singapore syllabus. He was unable to write number such as 7, 5 correctly as most Pri 1 students have the problem of writing numbers in mirror effect. He was also unable to read the questions as some words such as 'number', smallest', 'greater' were unfamiliar to him. Basic questions like 3 + 2 took him quite a while to calculate.
In his CA1, he scored 60+ marks, but in the CA2 exam, his grades improved significantly (80+ marks).
Primary 6:
Problem sums were hard to comprehend for her. Though she understood the questions, she was unable to determine what the first step was. I managed to help her by learning how to start the solution by breaking down parts of the question. In her SA1, she scored 40+ marks, and improved to 70+marks in her SA2.
