"When you know better you do better"
After my tertiary studies at Ntu, I have worked as a contract teacher for around a year before I proceeded on to NIE to pursue my post-graduate diploma in Chinese Language and Chinese Studies. I am proud to have graduated with Distinction in Practicum, which can be translated to an excellent application of teaching pedagogies in the classroom.
On a related note, I have been giving tuition since my NSF days which offers me the insights and experience needed to engage in interactive learning and teaching with various profiles of students.
Recently, I have just completed my tuition service to an Indian family, teaching their 2 boys for 2 years before they took their O level Chinese. The elder brother who is 1 year older, obtained a B3 in his O level Chinese, with Distinction in Oral. Before I taught him, he was still a D7 student who showed little interest in Chinese. The huge leap in his grade not only shows his hardwork and faith but also a tutor's ability to guide and encourage a student to grow on a value-added track.
I have faith in his younger brother because I have confidence in my teaching pedagogy. My work attachment as an Editor in a local Translation Firm, Lingua Tech during my Uni 3rd Year has helped me to grow and be versatile in both languages, English and Chinese. As such, I have introduced a bi-lingual approach to teach my weaker students so that they may better grasp the depth and definition of contents.
Currently, I am a Secondary School Chinese Teacher and I believe my call to educate the young minds not only be answered in school, but also in my private tutees who yearn to have a true learning and develop a passion in Chinese.
